Fleta M. Shrum, 86, of Rockford, Il. was welcomed into heaven on Sunday, January 28, 2018. In a life well celebrated, Fleta, married Woodrow Shrum in 1948, and together shared 70 years while raising their family in a home filled with love. Fleta was a valued employee for Amerock for over 30 years. She fashioned her life around family. Preparing home cooked meals especially her biscuits and gravy and preserving the vegetables she grew in her garden. Fleta M. Shrum, 86, of Rockford, Il. was welcomed into heaven on Sunday, January 28, 2018. In a life well celebrated, Fleta, married Woodrow Shrum in 1948, and together shared 70 years while raising their family in a home filled with love. Fleta was a valued employee for Amerock for over 30 years. She fashioned her life around family. Preparing home cooked meals especially her biscuits and gravy and preserving the vegetables she grew in her garden. She introduced her family to the beauty of nature through their camping and fishing adventures. Fleta was a long time member of First Assembly of God Church currently City First, where she taught Sunday School. She was a big cheerleader for all of her grandchildren's sporting events. Fleta was most content when surrounded by her family. Fleta was born December 11, 1931 in Mammoth Springs, AR. to Robert and Virgie (Covington) Bates.

Survivors: husband; sons, Roger (Diana), Rick (Linda) Shrum; grandchildren, Craig (Tracy) Shrum, Todd Shrum, Lisa (Rodney) Fredrick, Stephanie Shrum; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings, Jean (Wayne) Keen, Louise Palmer. Predeceased by granddaughter, Paula Shrum; six siblings.
